You're Not Lazy About This.

the opposite.

You're Not Lazy About This.

the opposite.

You do your homework.

You're a person who likes to be prepared. You came into pregnancy thinking you'd plan it the way you plan everything: books, podcasts... a spreadsheet, probably.

But birth is a whole new ballgame.

It's information overload. Constant contradictions. And everyone is certain their way is “right.” You go looking for "epidural risks and benefits" and surface an hour later with six new things to worry about.

So, the mental tabs multiply.

And the more you learn, the less prepared you feel. That's how you can do all the homework and still arrive at 38 weeks stuck in analysis paralysis, spinning in decision fatigue, or choreographing the smallest detail, down to your fingernails

(to be fair, your hands will be in a lot of newborn photos… )

Okay, My Love. Let's Talk.

I know you’d so much rather crawl under the covers in your cozy fortress of pregnancy pillows—preferably with your dog (and probably a snack, too).

But when you’re piecing things together from TikToks, comment sections, and vague advice to “just go with the flow” you're basically going into one of the biggest days of your life without a map.

But more information has never been thing standing between you and confidence.

After nearly a decade supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, here's what i've learned...

Most birth plans fail to actually support you because they read as a checklist of rigid demands, flimsy wishes, or loosely held preferences.

A truly effective and empowering birth plan is something else entirely: a dynamic tool for collaboration and consent in moments where the stakes are high and things move fast.

Information is the raw material, but confidence to actually use it comes from grounding into your values, identifying your priorities and strengthening your communication skills.

in a nutshell...

The power of a birth plan is not in a piece of paper. It's in the process of creating it.

Hi, I'm Jillian.

I'm a Minnesota-Based Doula, Evidence Based Birth Instructor © & Gender Justice Advocate.

Since 2018, I've supported hundreds of families through their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journeys (including being present for 150+ births), and I'm on a mission to bridge the scientific and sacred elements of birth support.

I'm also "mom" to two daughters—Lottie and Evangeline. During my first birth, I rocked a 3 day induction at the hospital, and with my second, I had a candlelit waterbirth in my bedroom.

Both were positive, empowering experiences that were the right decision for me. I believe you know what's right for you!

In today's world of horror stories and hot takes, communicating with nuance and balance can feel almost impossible.

But I promise, there is a way to cut through the noise of other people's opinions, confidently choose the path that's best for your family, and partner with your provider as an advocate for medical care that honors your humanity and dignity.

And it's actually really simple.

The 3C Solution Has Entered The Chat.

Here's how it works.

The 3C Solution Has Entered The Chat.

Here's how it works.

Centering—Start With What Matters Most

Your birth plan shouldn't be a static list of clinical preferences—

it should be grounded in what makes you feel safe and supported.

You might not know all the medical vocab, but you do know yourself: your values, your limits, how you respond to pain, and what helps you stay grounded when things get tough. Before you even touch the medical options, you have to reflect on who you are and what matters to you.

Choices—Know Your Options

Think of it like the Starbucks secret menu—

you have to know it exists before you can order from it.

When you understand how other people do things, you can be a creative problem solver while recognizing the real limitations of the system you’re in because let’s be real, corporate only gives those nurses—I mean baristas— so much time to make your drink.

Collaboration—Use Your Birth Plan to Connect

Your provider brings clinical expertise.
You bring personal experience, values, and preferences.

The best outcomes happen when you come to the table with a clear voice—not to fight, but to partner. This is shared decision-making, and it’s about co-creating care that honors both safety and self.

You Need All Three...
If You're Missing Just One, The System Breaks.

1.

VALUES & OPTIONS, BUT NO COLLABORATION?
You walk in confident. Then a textbook plan meets a real-life twist, and your fight-or-flight kicks in. The room fills with tension, and you brace for a battle instead of leaning into support.

2.

VALUES & COLLABORATION, BUT DON'T KNOW YOUR OPTIONS?

You go with the flow in the moment. Then later, you're lying awake asking, "why didn't I speak up and say something?" That's the fawn response. Keeping the peace at the expense of your own agency.

3.

OPTIONS AND COLLABORATION, BUT UNCLEAR PRIORITIES?

You feel prepared, right up until two preferences clash and you freeze. Decision fatigue takes over, your nervous system taps out, and you're stuck in buffer mode, constantly second-guessing your next move.

Stress hormones stall labor.

And birth shouldn’t feel like a battle.

By keeping your focus on Centering, Choice & Collaboration, you can be an informed & empowered decision-maker every step of the way.

are you Ready to close some mental tabs & finally feel PREPARED for your birth?

I'm so excited to bring you my proven, step-by-step process for writing—and actually using—an effective, empowering birth plan.

The Birth Plan Workshop is a values-first system that walks you through the entire birth planning process in one afternoon. You'll go through the curriculum, do the work, and walk away with birth plan in hand.

by the end of our time together, you will...

  • get all those swirling thoughts out of your head and organized on paper.

  • be able to clearly and concisely articulate what you want and why.

  • walk into your next prenatal appointment knowing exactly what to ask to get the details you need.

  • empower your support people with something concrete to reference when you're in labor.

  • use your birth plan to advocate for feel-good vibes on your birth-day, no matter who's on call.

  • walk away feeling like you're the boss of your birth —the kind who takes in expert perspectives, trusts their gut & makes informed, confident decisions.

a pinterest template could never 😏

Full transparency: If you think birth plans are dumb, are looking for someone to tell you the "right" way to birth, or

aren't at least ~generally~ a fan of reproductive justice, this won't be your jam. Don't say I didn't warn you...

WHAT’S INSIDE?

Here's what we'll work on together:

Step 1

Establish Your Values

The Centering work. Who you are and what matters to you, before any medical decisions enter the picture.

Step 4

Assemble Your Plan

Turning everything you've reflected on into a real, written document that your medical team will actually read.

Step 2

Name Your Context

Your situation, your provider, your setting. The real conditions of your life that your plan has to work inside of.

Step 5

Gather Your Team

Bringing your partner, support people, and provider into the plan so the whole room is on the same page (literally!).

Step 3

Grasp Your Options

The choices that genuinely come up in birth, made understandable instead of overwhelming.

Step 6

Exercise Your Agency

The foundations of advocating for yourself with collaboration—not control or conflict.

It takes something that could be wildly overwhelming and makes it genuinely simple

THE BIRTH PLAN BUILDER:

This is the magic trick. We're skipping straight past the blank-page paralysis, so you can focus on substance and human touch. The builder takes everything you reflected on across the whole workbook, all those exercises and decisions, and assembles it into a structured birth-room-ready draft in seconds.

Frequently Asked Questions.

Will I feel safe and supported here?

I hope so. This space was intentionally created with an inclusive, trauma-informed lens.

I affirm and celebrate all family structures. I fully support any way you choose to bring your baby into the world. All bodies are good bodies. Black lives matter. Queer families are beautiful.

I also know that systemic oppression can massively impact how people experience birth, and that internal bias often shapes how self-advocacy is perceived and received. While I speak from the lens of a cis white woman, I'm committed to ongoing learning, especially in reproductive justice, and I welcome all feedback on how to make this space more inclusive, supportive, and genuinely helpful for birthing people of all identities.

In this workshop, I offer what I know from supporting hundreds of families, diverse in almost every way. But I always encourage you to bring your own intuition, cultural wisdom, and lived experience. Nobody knows what's best for you except you, even if you need a little help accessing that from time to time

Is this in place of a "birth class"?

Nope. This workshop picks up where most classes miss the mark: practicality. We'll take what you already know (even if it feels like nothing) and apply it to the real world of birth. I do recommend a separate comprehensive class if you can swing it, but this curriculum stands on its own.

What if I want an epidural / scheduled c-section / waterbirth?

Love it. All choices are celebrated here.

Is this only for hospital birth?

While many of the strategies are tailored to navigating hospital systems, the process works for birth centers and homebirths, too—especially if you want a strong transfer plan.

How long does the workshop take?

My goal is for you to go through the curriculum, do the work, and walk away with your birth plan in hand in one afternoon. Ideally, you'll bring it to your next prenatal visit, too.

When, in pregnancy, should I take the workshop?

If you've got a few hours to spare before heading to the hospital, you can complete it. If you're the plan-ahead type, it'll give you a head start and help everything else click into place. Generally, anytime in your second or third trimester is perfect. Early enough to explore your options, close enough to feel real and relevant.

you don't need to know everything. nobody does, and nobody can predict how their birth will go.

What you can do is get clear on what matters to you, understand your real options, and know how to talk to the people in the room. That's the whole game. And it's exactly what one afternoon here gives you (you can even stay in your pillow fort, it'll be cozy...).
